Speaker, Prophetic Minister Chuck Smith

“Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit, he speaks mysteries. But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation.”  1 Corinthians 14:1-3.

What a powerful time of ministry we had with Pastor Chuck Smith, ordained minister with Christians for Messiah Ministries, Fort Mill, SC. Chuck’s purpose is to impart to the people of God principles to help them operate in their gifts in a way that will be a blessing to the church and leadership. The mandate on his life from God is to “Unlock the Prophetic” in the lives of believers.

Ephesians 4:11-13 tells us, “And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.”

Chuck shared that God works in Five-Fold Ministry Teams

Five-Fold Ministry is the government of God to equip the people of God. Jesus gave gifts to men: Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Teachers, and Pastors; working together to equip and empower the church for the work of the ministry. Apostles plant, help, release, call forth giftings. Prophets impart; unlocks the prophetic. All may prophesy, “For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn, and all may be exhorted” 1 Corinthians 14:31.

Put your trust in the Lord God and you will be established. Put your trust in His prophets and succeed. 2 Chronicles 20:20. “

Chuck shared with us three misconceptions about the prophetic:

1. Many have heard: “Seek the Giver and not the Gifts.”

In First Corinthians 14:1 the Bible tell us to pursue love and desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophesy. 1: Corinthians 14:3 tells us to desire earnestly to prophesy. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33).

2. Another misconception is, “If you ask for something you might get something bad.”
Luke 11:10-13 reads, “For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened. Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”

3. Some are afraid if they miss it, they are a false prophet.
This is not true. The Word says we prophesy in part. Give grace to develop in our giftings.

There are three aspects to every word or utterance:
1) Revelation
2) Interpretation, and
3)Application

Chuck told us, revelation is the raw data coming out of heaven through many ways: dreams, visions, impressions, Scripture, pictures in the “eyes of our hearts”, open visions, angelic visitations, audible voice of God.

We should ASK GOD for the interpretation. Remember, all prophesy is to edify, encourage, and build up the body of Christ. God is a GOOD, GOOD Father.

Application is key;

When you’re given a prophetic word, act on it; apply the word. We’re told to judge the prophetic. Remember, prophesy is for encouragement, edification, and comfort. One should leave a conversation feeling comforted. When you’re given a prophetic word ASK God about it. PRAY about it.

We must handle the Word of God correctly;
Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others pass judgment. (1 Corinthians 14:29)

Do not quench the Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19).

Do not believe every spirit. Test the spirits. (1 John 4:1).

False prophets have an agenda. No person’s ministry is exempt from judgment. Weigh the words of others. Judge it. The Word of God speaks. Judging removes the enemy’s influence. Submit ministry to judgement. Work in teams.

The Lord is calling diverse groups for specific purposes that will lead to a great anointing and demonstration of the five-fold gifts.

We need spiritual ears to hear.

Psalm 27: 8. “When You said, ‘Seek My face,’ my heart said to You, ‘Your face, LORD, I will seek.’” We must turn around to respond to His cry. This is a command. Each one of us must respond, “Yes, Lord, I will seek Your face.”
