Highway To Zion with Cathy Hargett
Written by Sue Pellum Sanders
Guests walked in this morning to an inviting room filled with beautifully decorated tables and a delicious continental breakfast. Lisa Salyards welcomed everyone with the song, “Down to the River.” She encouraged us to rise up in the amazing river of His love, to be encouraged, and to let our lights shine. She stated, “He pours into us so that we can pour out.” Joyce Russell Sanders opened the gathering in prayer. She urged us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. She felt that the Lord prompted her to pray the following for our nation: national repentance, a consciousness of who God is, leaders to have wisdom and integrity, awareness of accountability, the mighty and unseen power of the Holy Spirit to be manifested, power, and the church to rise up and shine for Him.
Alexis Cosson Portley shared a testimony . She has heart and lung problems and has been told that she only has six months to live. After church on Sunday, she and her daughter went to lunch. A random individual who did not know her walked up to her and admonished her with the assurance, “You shall live and not die.”
Joyce shared a testimony about her sister Nancy Baker who has really been having serious health issues. While at church on Sunday, in response to the pastor’s sermon, she visualized the woman with the issue of blood and her pushing forward to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment. Nancy saw herself touching the hem of Jesus’ garment. Something balled up in her belly and came up and out of her mouth. Nancy is feeling healing and renewed strength, energy, and zeal.
Taylor Smith led the group in the Bible confession. David shared a testimony of God’s delivering him from death. Last year he was on the phone with his sister when he heard someone knocking. The knocking continued so he told his sister that he would call her back. When he went out of the room, the house was billowing with smoke. After escaping the fire, he was unable to find anyone outside. The Lord had delivered him from death. Although he lost his home and belongings, the Lord has graciously restored back to him even more than he lost. He told of a time when he had been in prison and getting saved while being a prisoner. He sang a portion of a song declaring, “I’m free. . .no longer bound.”
The praise and worship team led us in two traditional hymns, “O Victory in Jesus,” and “How Great Thou Art.” What joy to sing about the victory that we have in Jesus and to declare how great He is! The theme continued as we sang “The Greatness of Our God” and declared that nothing could ever separate us from His love. The words from the song–“Give me eyes to see more of who You are”—expressed the longing of our thirsty souls.
Cathy Hargett from Highway to Zion ministry expressed her conviction that there was a deep flowing of the Lord in our midst and aliveness. She referenced Zechariah 13 and felt that the Lord had given her a prophetic word for us. “’In that day there shall be a fountain. . .’ Springs are in us, rivers of living water. Jesus is the fountain in each one of us. Let the River flow.”
Cathy just came home from Israel two weeks ago. She felt compelled to lead us in dance to express our love for God. People dance when a king is coming. They want to spin in circles. She exclaimed, “He spins wildly around us. We must allow God to love us. Let Him kiss us as Song of Solomon said. The joy of the Lord is being released in this time.” She told us that we would be walking the deep with Him. We would receive the kisses of His mouth, receiving the fullness of His Word. The kiss is to know Him.
She led us in a dance to “Every Tribe” by Joshua Aaron and Joseph Amahara. As we danced, we were to enjoy God together. God was in the midst of our circles, and we were to love Him with our bodies, souls, minds, and spirits—to give Him our whole selves. She shared thoughts from Psalm 133: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments.” Our expressions of love for God and each other as we worshiped through dance would be like the oil being poured out on our great High Priest. She continued instructing and leading us to dance before Him. She mentioned the Feast of Tabernacles and the symbol of the palm branches. The waving of the palm branches is a symbol of the coming of the Messiah.
The third dance was a rendition of “How Great Is Our God” and began in Hebrew and then ended in English. Cathy believes that we need to have more congregational dancing. We need to raise up dancers with the heart of worship because the Messiah is with us spinning wildly around us. She declared, “The King is coming. We need Messianic faith. It is so different from traditional faith.”
When Cathy first went to Israel in 1983, she had no understanding of the significance of the feasts. The Lord opened her eyes to how much the Lord loves the gates of Zion. It is a picture of our destiny– the Garden of Eden being restored. Zechariah 14 tells us that Jesus will rule in Jerusalem.
She shared the following points from Isaiah 46:
• The King is coming.
• He is coming here to earth.
• We are coming back, too.
• Feast of Tabernacles shares the joyous truth of the feast of His coming.
As she read Revelation 19: 13-15, she prayed that the Lord would help us to believe what we already know—that He would take us to another land, the land of Zion. She said, “God is serious about Zion. He wants to restore us and make us the splendor of Zion.” She mentioned Romans 9-11 and instructed that God does not take back His promise to Israel. The covenant that God made with the patriarchs is the foundation of our faith.
Elohim is the plural name for God: God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Yeshua, Jesus, is our Messiah, our Salvation.
We need to embrace the Holy Spirit and to continually go deeper with Him. Speak in tongues because you are speaking the mysteries of God.
We need to embrace Abba Father in the same intimate way that we do Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
We need to understand the restoration of Israel and step into Messianic faith. This leads us into deeper levels of the richness of God. Hebrews 6:1 admonishes us to let go of elementary teachings and progress into maturity and all that the Lord is revealing.
Ezekiel 37 promised that the Lord would raise up His people and return them to Israel. This promise was fulfilled in 1948 when Israel became a nation again. Now, even the lost tribes are returning to the land.
Ephesians 1: 9, 10 states: “Having made known unto us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He hath purposed in Himself: That in the dispensation of the fullness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him.” We are living in these days. There are now Jewish believers in Israel. Jesus was the one new man mentioned in Ephesians 2: 15-17. Jesus said in Matthew 5:17, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.” Jesus is the fullness of the Torah. The mystery is unfolding before us right now. Revelations 10: 7 states: “But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when He shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as He hath declared to His servants the prophets.” Cathy asked, “Why go to Israel?” Her thunderous response was “to immerse ourselves.” In Israel believers are totally immersed. They are submerged completely under the water and baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We need to totally immerse ourselves in Messianic truth.
Cathy shared four personal points.
- While she was in Israel this last time, she saw a picture in her spirit. She was leaning her head against Jesus similar to how John had. As she leaned, she was absorbed into His person. She was inside Yeshua. Every fear, every harsh word, every critical thought was hushed. The Lord said, “You are in Me.” She was reminded of John 14.
- He told me, “Hear my words.” He kept saying: “I anoint your head with oil and your cup overflows. I anoint your head with oil and your cup overflows. . .” The Holy Spirit is continually filling and overflowing through me.
- Reset—Reset—Unplug from all your stuff. Plug it back in, in context of what we are understanding in these days. Plug back in. He will keep us focused. He is taking us deeper. Proclaim Jeremiah 31, the promise of a Savior and His return. Plug back in. Let your mouth constantly be proclaiming the Word of God.
- She saw the desert in the edge of Jericho. The desert symbolized longing and thirsting. The Lord said, “I want to kiss you. I want to take you deeper. I want to show you more.” He reminded her of Song of Solomon 1:2 again: “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth. . .” and Song of Solomon 8: 1 c: “I would kiss thee. . .” He said to her, “I want to love you more.” She exclaimed, “I want to love You back.”
In closing, she prayed the Hebrew blessing from Numbers 6: 24-26 over us: “The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”
An open invitation was given for prayer, and the praise team sang “Great Are You, Lord.”
In light of today’s message, how appropriate are the words of the song we sang, “The Greatness of Our God.”
“No sky contains, no doubt restrains all You are, the greatness of our God.
I spend my life to know and I’m far from close to all You are, the greatness of our God.
Give me eyes to see. . .
Give me grace to see beyond the moment. . .
I spend my life to know and I’m far from close to all You are, the greatness of our God.”
