Summertime Revive

Knitting Hearts Gathering on July 14, 2018
Nathan Johnson and Chuck & Trista Smith

Our gathering began with a continental breakfast and intermingling with others. Joyce Sanders welcomed everyone and mentioned songs that the Lord had been reminding her of this week that focused on asking the Lord to send a revival and set a fire within our souls. Dalana Barnett, the leader of the flag team, opened in prayer and shared about chains falling off. After she blew the shofar, she and her team worshiped to a song that declared the battle cry: “I am a warrior. When I fall down, You make me stronger and clothe me in Your armor. . .Jesus, make me a warrior.” Joyce prayed and shared announcements. Taylor led the Bible confession. David Foxworth, the communications pastor from Antioch International Church, has been studying revival for over thirty years, and he shared a prophetic word announcing that revival is coming—a great outpouring, bigger than we can imagine. The power of God will be manifested through signs and wonders. He shared, “What is coming will blow us away. There needs to be purity along with the power. . .Get ready. Get alive with God because there is a release of revival.”

Trista Smith and Christian Acker led the group in an anointed, spontaneous time of worship that focused on the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The cry of the audience was in sync with the words of the first song: “We need Your revival, Holy Spirit fire burning ever brighter in our souls. King and kingdoms falling. Hear Your people calling—we need a miracle.”

Reverence dominated the atmosphere as we presented our offerings to the Lord and sang a song composed of the Lord’s Prayer. We declared, “Yours is the kingdom. Yours is the power. Yours is the glory forever. Amen.” We cried out in unison, “Let Heaven come down. . .We lift You higher, Jesus. You captivate us. Let Your glory fall. We seek Your face. You captivate us.”

With anticipation we worshiped and sang hallelujahs. Our senses came alive as we sang: “I can hear the rumbling of thunder; it’s the whole earth shaking with Your power. It’s the stirring of Your people in awe and wonder. It’s the voice of Your people singing hallelujah.”

Chuck Smith, prophetic minister at Antioch International Church, prayed and then gave a word that the Lord had given him. He believes that the Lord said that KHM is affecting a larger territory. The word is diversity. The Lord is looking for the people of God to come together in unity. Pastor Smith said that the Lord is calling diverse groups for specific purposes that will lead to a great anointing and demonstration of the five-fold gifts. The word for Sumter is that it is a soft place. The Holy Spirit can do whatever He wants. Because of the softness, the Holy Spirit can flow. To KHM, He says, “I can do unusual things because KHM is soft. You will be trailblazers and revivalists. The five-fold ministry will operate through you, and there will be a diversity of the anointing and grace.”

Nate Johnson, evangelist and newcomer minister at Antioch International Church, shared that where there is softness, there is safety. There is releasing of diversities. His words were get ready ones: “Awaken, revival, reformation. It’s coming. It’s here. It’s by His name. He is jealous for this. Get ready. Pursue the kingdom.”

Chuck Smith shared a word using train symbolism that he had given Tammy Soles earlier. Tammy was the conductor. The train represented a move of God that is coming to Sumter. He told us not to be in the caboose. A train runs by a schedule. There is a timing involved.

Pastor Smith began his message reading Psalm 27: 8. “When You said, ‘Seek My face,’ my heart said to You, ‘Your face, LORD, I will seek.’” Pastor Smith emphasized that the Lord initiates revival. We need spiritual ears. We must turn around to respond to His cry. There is a command. Heaven is initiating revival. Each one of us must respond, “Yes, Lord, I will seek Your face.”

Pastor Smith shared three rules for revival.

  1. Revival is illegal. a) It conflicts with humanistic law, and often Christians are hated. b) It must break religious laws. c) Sometimes we might need to break the laws of the day. The laws of God are higher than men’s laws. He reminded us of the story of the paralyzed man whose friends brought him to Jesus. In desperation since there were so many people in the home, they cut through the roof to drop the man before Jesus. This would be illegal, but their godly compassion led them to go to extreme measures to get their friend to Jesus.
  2. Revival is irrational. It stirs things up. Like Philip in Acts 8: 26-38, the LORD often gives us instructions that seem irrational or don’t make sense. He wants us to listen to the promptings from Him and to obey.
  3. Revival is infectious. When revival is real, it has to overflow.

Nate Johnson led us to declare the following: I am revival, I am not waiting for it, I am walking into it. The LORD said to Nate, “If you preach My word, I will confirm it.” He instructed us to ask the question of ourselves, “What are you carrying? How do you keep revival real?” Nate said that he never lets the Word of God get stale to him. The message of Jesus is the greatest message of all times. There are times of refreshing for us. Now is the season. There is always more refreshing.

Peter failed miserably, but yet he got so full of the Holy Spirit that he forgot he failed. He preached with such power that around three thousand souls were saved, and there were many wonders and signs done through him and the other apostles. Peter always acknowledged that he did not perform the miracles, but they were through His name, through faith in Jesus’ name. Peter preached to the brethren saying, “Repent and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. . .” Times of repentance bring refreshing. Romans 2 reminds us that the goodness of the Lord leads to repentance. We need to be praying that the altars be filled with people repenting.

Nate told of a rebellious time in his life, but his mother never quit praying and speaking into his life. He said, “God pursued me in the midst of my sinful life. The goodness of the LORD led me to repentance. I knew the call on my life, but I ran from it.” In June 2003 Nate got sober, saved, and married.

Nate ended his message with the truth, “If you show up, God will too.”

Nate and Chuck spoke words over the KHM team and then prayed over all who remained for prayer.

Those who came today received the refreshment from the LORD as well as hope for the future revival that is on its way. The King was among us, His glory surrounded us, and His fire fell on us. We cry out, “Lord, we need a miracle. Will You do it again?”
